What does it mean to observe art in fieldwork?

As a part of the second order group for Field Notes–Ecology of Senses (EOS), I asked myself this question. The expedition was organised by Bioart Society and was held on the banks of the pristine Kilpisjärvi lake, at the Kilpisjärvi Biological Station. With a group of six, I was embedded into the other groups with the aim of research and intervening to offer to counter perspectives. Our aim was to critically look at the methods and practises of the field.

At the end of the six day expedition, we tried gleaning new sensory observation from one another about field work practises. We employed inventive methods with a focus on senses as a guide to fieldwork. As practitioners of art, sociology, and philosophy, my team used tools from our respective fields to guide field work.
